Natural Edge Bowls

Neal DeVore will be teaching our February class on Natural Edge Bowls.  This class is for beginner to intermediate students.  You must have turned a bowl or two and be familiar with the use of a bowl gouge.  The procedures include:

1. Prepare the blank and design considerations

2. Mount the blank between centers using 4 prong drive center (although two prong is preferred)

3. Turn the outside shape using bevel rubbing techniques. Prepare a 55mm tenon

4. Reverse the blank and place in 4 jaw chuck.

5. Using bevel rubbing techniques remove the interior wood using a penetrating or plunging cut in steps. Inside shape to match the outside

6.. Sand and remove the tenon.

Wood will be provided.  You can bring your own 3/8 to 1/2" bowl gouge or use the club's tools.

See attached link prior to attending the class.
