Dear Martin, Thank you for your role in promoting the bowl donations from the Nor Cal Woodturners. The 75 bowls donated by the group were simply amazing. They were a wonderful addition to our bowl selection table, and many went on the 'Designer Bowl Table' for which we received extra donations. One family actually selected two of your bowls and wrote us an extra check for $100. It is easy to see why woodturners catch on to this as a hobby or a passion. The bowls sit proudly with a quiet voice but each has a long history and story to tell. And turning them over, we find they are a delight to see and touch on all sides. The finale is finding the signature of each craftsman who worked with skill and imagination on each piece. We can't thank you enough for supporting Empty Bowls and the River City Food Bank. You are helping thousands of Sacramento families who are suffering food shortages at this time. The Empty Bowls Committee and River City Food Bank |

Empty Bowls - March 2010
|
Nor-Calwoodturners participated in Empty Bowls, a fundraiser for River City Food Bank. Officially the Empty Bowls and Potters' Market, this year was the first for wooden bowls. Nor-Cal turners contributed 93 bowls, some of which are shown opposite (Photo by Norm Hinman). Nor-Cal was represented by Martin Harris at the Empty Bowls Dinner the night before. Ted Young, who contributed the most bowls (17), won a complimentary ticket to the lunch and took the three photos on the left below. The one on the right below was taken by Cheryl Chamber, Empty Bowls Coordinator. Our bowls were very well received and snapped up by diners. Two have sent emails through our website to thank us! |
