Three Demos in One At our March Membership Meeting three of our members presented very different techniques. Ernie Buda showed us how he made the "knuckle bone" pattern on the bottom of a platter. We're hoping he will teach a one day class sometime in the future! Next Mark Mapes explained how he weaves paracord across the tops of his bowls to make unique patterns. Last but not least, Barry Stephens brought in his bandsaw cutting jig and explained how he cuts bowls to create his Wave Bowls. You can see more examples in the April Newsletter. Gail Brooks - Pyrography At our February meeting Gail Brooks gave a wonderful talk about the different ways you can use Pyrography to embellish your woodturnings. It was a standing room only crowd and everyone learned something new. Gail shared her vast knowledge of the various tools that can be used, from simple wood burners to special pencils that are activated by a heat gun. We are very proud to have Gail as a member of our club. |

Nor-Cal Woodturners is a non-profit organization of woodturning enthusiasts from the greater Sacramento, California area. Our membership ranges from the novice to the seasoned woodturning professional.
Our mission is to foster an appreciation of the traditions and art of Woodturning. We do this by sharing our experiences, techniques and the turnings we produce with each other and the public.
Whether it's through our Youth Training Program, the Mentor program, club-sponsored day long turning events with nationally and internationally famous woodturners, our extensive library of books, tapes and DVDs or our monthly meetings, there is something for everyone.
The club meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month (except in November and December).
